Danish Ballhead Cabbage Seeds 1310 Heirloom Vegetable. Danish Ballhead produces outstanding quality and uniform, tender, fine-grained heads â€“ all the reasons why this is such a popular variety. Medium to large heads grow to 20 cm (8â€³) in diameter and weigh on average 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs). This long storing variety is excellent for kraut, cooking and slaw production. Introduced in the late 1880â€™s.
How to Grow
300 seed/gram. Sow seed indoors in a soil-less mix 5 weeks before last frost date. Sow seed 6 mm (1/4â€³) deep and keep at 20 C (70 F) for the 7-10 day germination period. Grow on at a slightly cooler temperature then harden off and plant outside in late May. Space plants 45 cm (18â€³) apart in rows with the rows 75 cm (30â€³) apart.
