Metasequoia glyptostroboides

This is a deciduous conifer prized for its feathery, soft foliage and pyramidal form. Mature trees reach 50–70 feet tall with a spread of 20–30 feet.

Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Prefers moist, well-draining soil rich in organic matter; tolerates slightly acidic to neutral pH.

Performs best in consistently moist conditions during the growing season.

Hardy in USDA zones 4–8, making it suitable for Ontario landscapes. Excellent as a specimen tree or near water features. Foliage turns copper-bronze in fall before dropping seasonally.
