Rhododendron elepidote 'Percy Wiseman'
Incredibly beautiful and exceptionally floriferous, is a semi-dwarf evergreen shrub with colour changing flowers. Blooming in mid to late spring, it displays and abundance of ball-shaped trusses, each counting up to 13-15 trumpet-shaped flowers, about 2inches across. Opening creamy pink, the flowers gradually turn creamy white with a yellow throat as they mature, after passing through shades of red, pink and pale purplish pink. Since each flower opens and ages at different times, 'Percy Wiseman' provides a ravishing and colourful display. The evergreen leaves are glossy, narrow, and dark green on a fairly compact, rounded and well-branched shrub. Easy to grow and can stand tough temperatures as low as -21Celsius
Size: 3-4 ft tall and 4-6 ft wide
Sun exposure: part shade
Flowering: Spring (mid-late)
Removing spent flowers promotes new growth. This shrub should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers.
